A fantastic laptop to get for under $500: crisp colors, slim but beautifully sturdy, accepts having thirty Google Chrome tabs open while playing a video or a very light game, and I enjoy the backlit keyboard. It starts off with over 800 GB of free space, which is decent on a basic laptop. My CPU usage runs consistently below 15% and I rarely hear the fan at all. The battery is built under the keyboard, which is concerning, but provided this laptop lasts, I may never buy from other manufacturers again.
Now for the bad news.
This mousepad? Is terrible. It's really as if Dell said, "What do people want in their laptops? Let's build that on a good budget so that more people can get what they need!" and woke up the night before its release shouting, "RIGHT, MOUSES. MICE. POINTER ... THINGS. LET'S ADD ONE OF THOSE IN, MAYBE." Using this trackpad is like arguing with a five-year-old: you get where you're going eventually, but it takes a lot of shifting around and unsubtle hand gestures and, in the end, the other side learns nothing.

This doesn't seem to be an issue with the software -- I think it's actually built to be this way. Even the clicker buttons respond to your movements, which -- for anyone who got used to resting their thumbs on those in older models -- is terrible news, because if the touchpad senses more than one item resting on it, it instantly stops responding. Sometimes the clickers take angling just to work at all. It's not impossible to handle -- I can just about finagle my way around it in everyday tasks -- but it's a nightmare for graphics work.
